Creator Terms

These Creator Terms apply in addition to the general Terms of Use where you create, manage or publish a project.

You Own Your Work

Chitram does not acquire ownership merely because you upload a screenplay or project.

You retain whatever intellectual property rights you lawfully hold.

You Must Have Rights

You represent that you have authority to publish all submitted:

• stories;
• screenplays;
• artwork;
• photographs;
• music;
• footage;
• biographies;
• names;
• trademarks; and
• project information.

Ideas Versus Protected Expression

Uploading an idea to Chitram does not create exclusive ownership over broad themes, concepts or unprotected ideas.

Creators should independently consider appropriate contractual, guild/association and statutory registration mechanisms.

Chitram Timestamp

Chitram may record:

• upload time;
• document version;
• checksum;
• project history; and
• account information.

A "Chitram Timestamp Verified" label means only that Chitram has recorded the relevant digital event.

It is not a government copyright registration, legal title certificate or guarantee of authorship.

Public and Private Materials

You control the visibility settings available to you.

Public information may be widely viewed.

Private materials may be shared only with users who receive authorised access, subject to platform controls.

You should use an NDA where contractual confidentiality is important.

No Guarantee Against Similar Ideas

The film industry frequently develops projects with similar themes.

Chitram does not guarantee that another creator will never independently develop similar concepts.

Project Claims

Creators must accurately disclose:

• attached actors;
• directors;
• producers;
• financiers;
• budgets;
• funding status;
• intellectual-property rights; and
• project stage.

Do not use logos or names of studios/platforms without lawful authority.

Financial Claims

Creators may state legitimate funding requirements using platform tools.

Creators must not:

• guarantee profits;
• advertise fixed returns unlawfully;
• misrepresent investor commitments;
• publicly solicit securities contrary to applicable law; or
• describe Backing Interest as secured funding.

Pitch Ready

The Pitch Ready service assists with presentation and development.

Chitram does not guarantee that:

• a producer will read the pitch;
• a project will be selected;
• an investor will invest;
• the project will receive financing;
• the screenplay will be produced; or
• the film will succeed.

AI-assisted content must be reviewed by the creator.

Deal Rooms

Deal-room access is provided as a technology tool.

Creators determine which authorised users receive access.

Chitram is not responsible for commercial decisions made by recipients.

Creators should independently obtain legal documentation, including NDAs where appropriate.

Creator Licence

You grant Chitram the limited licence described in the Terms to operate and display your project.

Chitram will not knowingly sell your screenplay as its own intellectual property.

Creator Responsibilities

You are responsible for project-level:

• contracts;
• chain of title;
• music rights;
• talent releases;
• location permissions;
• employment compliance;
• taxation;
• production insurance;
• securities compliance;
• financing documentation; and
• distribution agreements.

Chitram tools do not replace professional legal, accounting or production advice.
